- Mustache Inspiration
- Much of my inspiration comes from the many athletes who have rocked the 'stache over the last few decades. As a native of Rockingham NC, this athletic inspiration comes primarily from legends of the track such as: (1) the Intimidator himself, the late great Dale Earnhardt; (2) Richard "The King" Petty; (3) Kyle Petty (Petty family members are blessed with great mustache DNA).
Other athletic favorites include basketball legends like Larry "The Blonde Bomber" Bird, David "The Admiral" Robinson and Kurt Rambis. Sadly, my mustache will likely look more like Adam Morrison's and less like these other greats.
For a glimpse at a few of these and many other athletic friends of the 'stache, check out this link: http://www.comcast.net/slideshow/sports-mustaches/1/
I'd like to also thank my favorite professor, CJ Skender, for giving me such great mustache inspiration during my senior year of college, and Bob Kevoian of the Bob and Tom Show (hands down the best radio show out there...Bob's mustache is so powerful that you can actually hear it growing over the airwaves).
And finally, I have to say that my #1 mustache inspiration comes from my dad. He hasn't let the 'stache out of the bag in many years, but there are some hidden pictures buried deep in my parents' photo albums of my dad rockin' a mean 'stache while riding his motorcycle in college...true 70's style. - Number of Mustaches Grown
- 5
- Hobbies
- Basketball, softball, running (but only about once a month). Hanging out with my wife and playing with my baby daughter Kayla (I'm sure she'll love the mustache). Last but not least, consuming ample amounts of protein, calcium and iron to help give my 'stache a boost.
- Does your significant other like your mustache?
- Without a doubt.
- My mustache makes me look like...
- A combination of my 11th grade high school yearbook photo and Uncle Rico from the movie Napoleon Dynamite.
- What would you consider to be the optimal accessory for your Mustache?
- Two gold chains...one of which would be accompanied by a cheesy Carolina Panthers pendant (see 11th grade high school yearbook photo referenced above).
- Jason Giambi: Steroid-freak, yet friend of the Mustache. Are you conflicted?
- No. "Mustaches for Kids" rulebook clearly prohibits performance enhancing growth hormones. Dennis Eckersley - now there's a great non-steroid-induced baseball mustache! With the gravitational pull of such a heavy-weight mustache, it's no surprise he had to throw side-arm.
- In what setting will you be / are you most proud of your mustache?
- Tough call, too many great moments to choose from.
- Mustaches and Full-size vans: Creepy, or poised to make a
come-back? - Come-back??? They never went out of style to begin with.
- With a looming financial crisis, how do you anticipate your mustache making a difference (in a macro-economic sense)?
- Well, other than the fact that my mustache is helping raise money for a very noble cause, I guess I'll have to spend more money on grooming supplies to keep the 'stache in tip-top shape. I'll also have to buy double the beverages and food I would normally consume, as half of what I eat and drink during the next 4 weeks will likely get permanently lodged somewhere in between my nose and upper lip.
